FLIR Systems provides ultra long range thermal imaging

Story link: FLIR Systems provides ultra long range thermal imaging by Jan Harris

FLIR Systems has extended its range of HRC cameras with the HRC-59 x 735 and HRC-40 x 490.

The cameras feature powerful optical zoom capability on the thermal image, allowing the camera to see more detail when a target has been detected.

The system is superior to systems using a rotating lens which interrupts visual contact with the target.

The new HRC cameras allow the operator to gradually zoom in without losing focus on the target.

There is no switching or swapping between images involved to distract the operator.

FLIR Systems is demonstrated the HRC series for the first time in the UK at IFSEC.

The series is designed to operate over an extremely long range and is idea for applications such as border and coastal surveillance. It is also suitable for mid-range threat detection.
