Experian FootFall adopts Sony mini-domes

Story link: Experian FootFall adopts Sony mini-domes by Jan Harris

Experian Footfall, which counts pedestrian footfall for retailers and other organisations, has enhanced its ability to remotely monitor in-store activity through the integration of a counting system and video image reporting.

Sony’s mini-dome, fixed and pan-tilt IP cameras, have been used with the company’s Distributed Enhanced Processing Architecture (DEPA) technology, to strengthen Experian Footfall’s sensor-device system, which uses traditional thermal and laser imaging.

This allows a counting system and video image reporting to be integrated to facilitate remote monitoring of in-store activity.

As well as retailers, Experian Footfall’s clients include property, financial and transport organisations.

The company’s counting devices monitor the equivalent of the world’s population every year, providing information on the conversion rate of people purchasing goods or services in relation to the number of visitors to the venue.

Accuracy is essential, and Sony’s DEPA-enabled IP cameras, are providing a solution which provides accurate results and which is also cost-effective and user-friendly. The cameras are the first in the industry to include an intelligent algorithm as standard.

The Sony IP cameras distribute images over a network, allowing video to be remotely verified and providing near real-time analysis reports.

Experian Footfall’s system combines Sony’s sophisticated image processing technology with Experian FootFall’s tracking algorithms and reporting options.
