Bosch enhances IVMD software

Story link: Bosch enhances IVMD software by Jan Harris

Bosch Security Systems has significantly upgraded its Intelligent Video Motion Detection (IVMD) software with the release of IVMD 2.0.

The company has introduced an image-stabilisation algorithm which eliminates the effects of jitter.

This helps ensure reliable detection even from cameras mounted on unstable supports. Stabilisation is provided on both vertical and horizontal axes before the image is processed by the detection algorithm.

IVMD 2.0 builds on the concept introduced in version 1.0 of embedding intelligent functions such as video content analysis (VCA) at the edge of an IP network, i.e. in the encoders and cameras themselves.

Version 2.0 extends the range of alarm criteria with the inclusion of object identification on the basis of aspect ratio.

Other enhancements include idle-object detection which helps identify suspicious items left at a scene or cars parked in sensitive locations; object-removal detection for monitoring displays in locations such as retail outlets; and trajectory mapping for detecting loitering and other suspicious behaviour.

As well as creating alarms, IVMD 2.0 also produces metadata which provides a description of how the algorithm has interpreted the analysed scene.

This metadata can be used by Bosch’s VIDOS and Video Management System (VMS) solution to produce video overlays during live viewing. This can be of significant help in highlighting suspicious objects or activities.

The metadata can also be used for smart forensic searches on archived recordings.
