Security group Easydentic has integrated innovative finger vein authentication technology from Hitachi Europe Ltd, in its door access security system.
Easydentic’s R&D division, Eden, is using Hitachi’s finger vein authentication system in the form of physical door access systems in their Biovein product.
The Finger Vein Authentication System captures images of vein patterns inside a finger by passing a near-infrared light through the finger and recording the image on a CCD camera.
The vein patterns are unique and are almost impossible to copy, providing a highly effective, yet discrete security system.
The finger vein pattern technology was developed at the Hitachi Ltd Central Research Laboratory.
It has a number of other applications including PC login devices and validation devices for ATMs in Japan.
Jean Claude Bultel, President of Eden said: “Finger vein authentication is a great way of giving access to the right people only, with another added bonus: the end-user acceptance is very high, because they do not feel threatened or invaded by placing their finger on the reader – a big contrast to some other authentication methods.”
