Stena Line’s IT service arm has extended managed network provider, Reliance Globalcom’s contract to manage the distribution of live CCTV footage for the ferry operator.
The contract extension is for two-years and is worth $3.5m to Reliance.
Reliance Globalcom’s integrated MPLS and Ethernet Hybrid network delivers high-bandwidth services to ports in Scandinavia and Poland, allowing real-time CCTV security camera footage to be continually transmitted and remotely monitored.
The network can also support video-conferencing, VoIP and other converged communications applications.
The network is fully compliant and has allowed Stena to save costs as there is no longer any need for on-site security personnel.
Hans Björkborg, Stena Line’s IT Director, said:”Reliance Globalcom has impressed us over the last two years with their versitility in network design and we felt confident the high levels of service assurance they provide would answer all the legal requirements.
The final solution surpassed our expectations on both fronts and we have enjoyed considerable cost savings over the more staff intensive alternatives!”
