IndigoVision IP-CCTV monitors Hong Kong traffic

Story link: IndigoVision IP-CCTV monitors Hong Kong traffic by Jan Harris

IP-CCTV technology from IndigoVision, an Edinburgh-based manufacturer of IP video solutions, has been used to upgrade Hong Kong’s traffic surveillance system.

Forty-eight cameras from IndigoVision replaced the existing analogue cameras, to create a fully integrated 250 camera hybrid solution with the flexibility to migrate fully to IP Video at a future date.

This has extended the system to monitor the Northern district of Hong Kong, which was not previously covered.

IndigoVision’s technology was installed by Tung Po (HK) Technology Enterprise Ltd, the company’s partner for region.

A front end for the system was designed and created by Tung Po.

This was integrated with IP Video and alarm management ‘Control Centre’ software from IndigoVision.

The system is currently controlled by a number of geographically diverse control rooms, but the new technology will facilitate the integration of these control rooms into a unified system.

This will improve efficiency by allowing traffic police to manage traffic problems from a central facility, and will also enable footage to be analysed quickly, ensuring a fast response to problems.
