Manchester City FC selects Dedicated Micros’ DVRs
Story link: Manchester City FC selects Dedicated Micros’ DVRs by Jan Harris

Manchester City Football Club used sophisticated DVRs from Dedicated Micros, which is part of the AD Group, to upgrade the CCTV System at the City of Manchester stadium.
The existing system comprised 59 CCTV cameras linked to analogue multiplexers and video recorders. It was unable to provide 24/7 recording, which the club identified as a key requirement for system upgrade.
The club appointed G4S Security Systems (UK) Ltd to carry out the upgrade. G4S recommended the deployment of an advanced digital system based on six of the latest NetVu Connected Digital Sprite 2 (DS2) DVRs with 6Tb hard disk capacity, from Dedicated Micros.
The increased storage capacity provided by the plug and play system has allowed the record rate on the DVRs to be increased sixfold, and cameras to be added. It has also eliminated concern about reaching maximum capacity.
The system has also significantly reduced the frequency of off-line archiving. When one of the disks reaches capacity, footage is now archived to DVD rather than videotape, reducing space needed for storage.
The new system can be easily expanded with the addition of hard wired or wireless NetVu Connected products.

Dear Sirs
We are a Self Funding Children’s Charity, and have recently taken over the lease of a ex Scouts Hut/Dwelling, which we have converted into a day time activity/play, and learning area centre for Un-privileged children who have had a poor up-bringing, Learning difficulties, and a majority of them have been neglected by there parents/Guardians ect.
The ages are between 2-12 years old.
We were Kindly donated 4 PC’s and Monitors, and 4 TV’s with 3 Games Console’s from PC Centre (PC World) back in June2008 for the children’s pleasure and entertainment, and also the Sony centre kindly gave us 2 DVD players which was all sadly stolen on (Tuesday 27th morning around 2am)
The premises is located off a main road into a slightly wooded area, to which the nearest neighbouring house is over 600meters away, which makes the location an ideal target for Burglaries.
We have recently purchased 6 second hand CCTV External Cameras with housing off eBay, and have also kindly been given 4 x Dennard 300watts Infrared Lamps from a builder, which was off and old industrial site, and have been kindly installed by Aerial Force who are located in surrey.
The reason we are writing to yourselves is to ask you, for your help and assist us with an or Ex-Demo DVR or a reconditioned recorder unit at a reasonable price for us, so that we are able to connect the Cameras for 24 hours Security Surveillance to the premises in our absence as well as when we are on site to keep an eye on the perimitor fencing around the site, so that the children are 100% safe at all times.
We do have a Broadband Connection there, and I have been informed by the guys at PC World that it is easier enough for them to set up a connection via Broadband, so that the premises can be monitored from our home’s, to which they are willing to set up for us.
All of the camera’s and IRU’s are now wired, and installed into a secure cupboard, and fitted into a metal cabinet as suggested by the police crime prevention unit.
We really do appreciate your time and kindness in reading this email, and would not normally ask for such an item, as I know just by browsing that they can be an expensive piece of equipment but due to the amount of items that have been stolen our funds have being fully stretched so early in the year to replace what we can, especially with the new security levels we have had to take and tighten up on.
Sadly, the insurance company will not pay out, due to the lack of security we had for leaving such items in such a secluded location, but they are willing to come and re-assess future cover if the security levels are stepped up, and the local police are willing to give there stamp of approval (So to Speak), if such measures are taken out the Insurance have told us if such security is fitted, and that there assessment officer is happy with the upgrade of the security is sufficient enough, they may contribute some sought of payment to help us with the measures we have taken.
All the cameras are run in Twin Screened RG59 cable with BNC type connections terminated at all the ends. We would only require a 4-6 way DVR, as all the cameras are covering 95% of the location and are clearly visible to anyone entering the location. The site will be monitored by several members of staff while not on site via the Broadband Connections.
We have had an alarm fitted also, which dials several phone numbers if an intruder is detected, and have also have had 4 security lights, which was kindly supplied and fitted by CES Electrical.
Again we deeply appreciate your time in reading this, and do hope you can assist us in some way, we don’t even mind paying the full price only if you could give us a little time to raise some funds, as a lot of our fund raising events are done through out the Spring & Summer months or even earlier, if the insurance gives us a payment.
Pc World has suggested that they will to supply us with the Hard Drive for the unit, if this helps in some way?
Our Kindest Regards
Mr G Stimson (Play Away Day Centre)
