Bosch, the German-based global supplier of technology and services, has acquired Extreme CCTV Inc, a Canadian company, for a figure in the region of €63m.

With the acquisition of Extreme CCTV, Bosch is strengthening its Security Systems division and extending its activities in video surveillance.

Extreme CCTV is a manufacturer and supplier of active infrared illuminators, integrated day/night cameras with active illumination, and hardened imaging products for use in extreme environments. Its product range includes systems for licence-plate capture and recognition.

The company has three well-known brands: Extreme, Forward Vision, and Derwent, and has 130 associates worldwide.

Bosch was set up in Stuttgart in 1886 and the group today comprises 300 subsidiary and regional companies in over 50 countries. The company spends more than €3bn each year for research and development, and in 2006 applied for over 3,000 patents worldwide.
