IndigoVision technology monitors Manchester centre

Story link: IndigoVision technology monitors Manchester centre by Jan Harris

A digital CCTV system from IndigoVision, the IP Video technology company, has been installed in Manchester’s Wythenshawe Shopping Centre, which is owned by St Modwen Properties.

The IP network system, deployed by IndigoVision’s local partner VideoTec Ltd, replaces an existing analogue matrix system.

The system monitors both internal and external retail units, as well as the perimeter area, and comprises 40 colour/mono high speed dome cameras, which are controlled with IndigoVision’s ‘Control Center’ software.

Three IndigoVision standalone Network Video Recorders (NVRs) provide a total storage capacity of 6TB.

CCTV operators are required by law to keep footage recorded in a public place for 31 days.

With advanced compression technology, the storage provided by the NVRs is more than adequate to store high-resolution video from all the cameras, continuously recorded at 12 fps for this period.

The new system provides excellent video quality and allows footage to be quickly searched and analysed, while cameras can be repositioned, and new cameras added at very little cost.
