Newnham becomes DisplayLink

Story link: Newnham becomes DisplayLink by Brian Turner

Newnham Technology in the US and UK based Newnham Research, have changed their name to DisplayLink. The change is to highlight the company’s global identity as a leading provider of network display technology.

With its innovative semiconductor and software technology, DisplayLink is using existing PC interfaces including USB, Ethernet and wireless networks to transfer fully-interactive, high-resolution graphics to any computer or HDTV display. This technique has been called the ’second-display revolution’.

In the 1980’s the first display revolution led to the low-cost, high-resolution displays in common use today. It stimulated a demand for display connectivity that will allow users to connect more than one monitor to a computer. It was, however, complicated to connect multiple displays and this limited adoption.

DisplayLink has developed network display technology that solves the problems that have kept this market from developing. The company has produced a cost-effective, user-friendly solution to connect a computer to one or more displays.

The latest technology is fully interactive and supports up to 32-bit, true-color graphics at 1920 x 1200 resolution over standard wired and wireless network interfaces. The product supports USB 2.0 and is designed to be embedded into laptop docking stations, monitors and digital projectors.

DisplayLink plans to further expand its USB product line with Ethernet and wireless solutions in the coming months.
