Survey highlights importance of home security
Story link: Survey highlights importance of home security by Jan Harris

According to a survey carried out by Intamac Systems Ltd, a quarter of households in the UK have been burgled, and 86% of these homes were not protected by a security system when the burglary occurred.
Several reasons were given for this lack of security provision, including prohibitive costs, insufficient free time to install the equipment and the perception that a system would be too difficult to install.
Not surprisingly, 90% of those surveyed whose homes had been broken into, did improve home security after the event. The measures taken include installing CCTV cameras, new locks and security lights.
According to Intamac, these measures do not provide comprehensive security and many people still felt unsafe in their homes, with 28% of those burgled deciding to move house.
Intamac provides a Home Manager service which allows users to monitor and manage IP cameras, alarms and environmental sensors over the Internet.
Home Manager can send text and email messages to users in response to an alarm or alert, allowing users to take immediate action.
