Wireless CCTV Communication From Train
Story link: Wireless CCTV Communication From Train by Jan Harris

Nomad Digital has successfully demonstrated the first US wireless closed circuit television communication from on-board a passenger train, using WiMAX connectivity, for the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA).
The proof of concept (POC) was conducted on a moving train on 3 February 2007. Uninterrupted high-speed communication was achieved, enabled by Nomad’s wireless technology.
For the POC a CCTV camera was installed at trackside near a train station and connected with the train via WiMAX technology.
CCTV video, streamed from the trackside to the train, proved to be of sufficient quality to be used for general safety measurements. Trackside CCTV images were forwarded straight to the train engineer enabling him to anticipate any potential obstructions on the track.
Nomad already provides advanced WiFi services on board trains across the UK and North America. In 2006, the company secured major contracts with Virgin Trains and the Heathrow Express.
The company opened global headquarters in Newcastle in 20006.
