Transport for London stops live CCTV trial

Transport for London (TfL) has decided to halt a six-month trial of a live CCTV streaming system on London buses.
The technology was supplied by Integrated Security Solutions Ltd (ISS), which approached TfL and asked them to test the system.
The system streams live CCTV footage from London buses, to a central control room and also to mobile devices which can be carried by security officers or police.
TfL ring-fenced £150,000 for the trial, but decided it wanted to look further into the benefits and cost implications of live CCTV streaming before going ahead with it.
Installing the technology in all London buses would cost around £20m.
An earlier, short trial of the technology, on an out of service London bus was successful.
The bus drove around central London for four days in September, and the signal was lost for less than two minutes in total.
