Sony Europe provides camera with 36x optical zoom

Story link: Sony Europe provides camera with 36x optical zoom by Jan Harris

Sony Europe’s new FCB-EX1010 colour camera module combines 36x optical zoom with high resolution of 530 TV lines, making it suitable for security, biometrics and broadcast applications.

The camera also features Wide-D technology, a backlight compensation function which improves effective dynamic range.

The technology improves image quality through a combination of progressive scanning and image processing.

The same image is captured once at normal shutter speed, and then again at a high shutter speed. A DSP integrated within the camera combines the two images to reproduce the high contrast of the original view.

The module also provides enhanced privacy masking and motion detection features.

It is based on a 1andnumber381;4-type progressive scan EXview HAD CCD, delivering a resolution of up to 440,000 pixels.

The module is ideal for CCTV manufacturers building speed domes, traffic monitoring and automated number plate recognition (ANPR) systems.
