Be home monitor service launched

Story link: Be home monitor service launched by Jan Harris

Be, a subsidiary of O2, has launched the Be home monitor service, a broadband-ready CCTV security system for the home or business.

The service combines digital network cameras, high-speed broadband and mobile communications technology.

Users ‘arm’ a wireless indoor camera when they leave their premises, simply by pressing the “Armed” button on a keyfob remote control. The camera will then automatically switch on to record if any movement is detected and the user will be alerted via an SMS, MMS text or e-mail.

The camera is connected via Be broadband to the internet, allowing users to check their online account and view both live footage and stored alarm incidents, from any internet-connected computer or mobile phone.

The plug and play, wireless camera can be positioned anywhere within range of the Be Box.

The service costs £150 to set up and there is a monthly charge of £5. This provides ownership of the camera, virtually unlimited access to the online account, 100 SMS and 10 MMS alerts per month.

The Be home monitor service is exclusive to Be Members. It can be ordered via the Be site.
