Ubiqz has overseen the installation of an Internet-addressable monitoring system, including 50-cameras, at a Church of England school on the south-east London/Kent border.
The system uses Power over Ethernet (PoE) from Israeli manufacturer, PowerDsine. Camera data and power are transmitted across CAT5 wiring from the principal server room.
The Sony cameras are ruggedised day/night mini domes with 480-line resolution. They feature MPEG-4 compression and make efficient use of bandwidth. The system also features three Dell servers (PE1850) attached to a Dell PV220 storage array.
The cameras are located at strategic points around the school, including communal areas, staircases, access points and around the perimeter of the building.
There is no live monitoring of the cameras, but the data and can be accessed in the event of an incident. Search and playback is provided by Sony’s RealShot ManagerTM PC monitoring software.
Staff and children are issued with a card which they can use to access certain areas of the school. The cards have a payment option for services such as cafeteria meals.
The system was installed by the CCTV Company Ltd.
