Canadian company to provide CCTV for Heathrow

Story link: Canadian company to provide CCTV for Heathrow by Jan Harris

Forward Vision Mic1-400 cameras from Canadian company, Extreme CCTV Inc, have been chosen to provide surveillance at the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow International Airport.

Forty six of the cameras, which are nicknamed ‘Metal Mickeys’, will be installed as part of the terminal’s £70 million security and telecommunications network.

Twenty of the rugged, pan-tilt-zoom cameras were installed at the airport in 2002 and have provided uninterrupted surveillance of one of the airport’s key tunnels, where they monitor high traffic volumes.

The latest Extreme CCTV cameras were chosen to provide long term reliability and high performance.

When completed, Terminal 5’s IP-based security and data hub will include a high-bandwidth network with several operational systems including CCTV, voice, access control, and building management.

Extreme CCTV is based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The company specialises in the design, development and manufacturing of advanced infrared illuminators and precision engineered video surveillance products.
