AMG provides security system for Jurby prison

Story link: AMG provides security system for Jurby prison by Jan Harris

North London company, AMG Systems Ltd, has secured a contract with ADT Fire & Security, to supply the CCTV transmission system and fibre optic infrastructure for an integrated safety and security solution, to be installed in Jurby prison.

Jurby Prison, a £41 million, category B prison, will replace an existing, overcrowded facility in Douglas on the Isle of Man.

The prison has been designed by Taylor Young, in partnership with Isle of Man Architects McGarrigle and Jackson.

It will accommodate 140 male and female prisoners and includes reception, visitor areas, education and training, kitchen and recreation facilities.

AMG Systems will supply a Vision 2000 Plug-’n- Play real time full bandwidth fibre optic transmission system.

This will serve a mix of fixed and Pan Tilt Zoom CCTV cameras, situated both internally and externally, all around the prison.

The CCTV signals are routed to a Central Control Room and to localised monitors around the site. They are also stored on DVRs.

ADT’s system will provide access control and perimeter surveillance. It will also feature intruder and detection alarms, cell calls, general alarms, intercom and public address systems.
