Eggborough Power Station has installed infra-red illuminators supplied by CBC (Europe), to improve the night time surveillance of camera images monitoring its site. The 2GW coal-fired power station, which is operated by British Energy, is located in Selby, North Yorkshire.
The Ganz IR/500 series long-range infra-red LED illuminators supplied by CBC, were installed to support 13 pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) CCTV cameras, which survey gates around the site perimeter, entry points and other high risk areas.
The angle of light projection, of the IR500/2060, can be set to between 20° and 60°, providing light for up to 100 metres at 60° (wide), and 160 metres at 20° (tele). The units have been fitted to existing ½-inch colour-mono cameras and Computar zoom lenses.
The new units, which are all of the high power LED type, with an expected life of 10 years, were installed by NX1 UK Ltd.
