BT and Intamac develop IP security system

Story link: BT and Intamac develop IP security system by Jan Harris

Telecom group BT and Northampton-based Intamac Systems Ltd, a specialist in Internet accessed monitoring and control, have developed an IP security system with optional CCTV, for the home.

The system, called BT Homesafe, uses Intamac technology to provide a security system for people with a broadband connection, which costs significantly less than conventional alarm systems.

BT Homesafe can be managed over the internet and is able to send personal alerts by text, email and phone messages when activated.

Householders can programme the system remotely through a secure Web portal, and there are accessories to monitor for fire, power failure and flooding.

A CCTV option, using low cost IP cameras, allows individuals to view their property via the Internet. Pictures can be stored online and passed to mobile phones.

BT and Intamac have trialled the system in 1500 UK homes. It is available from Intamac, priced at £219.99.
