CCTV system safeguards shopkeepers
Story link: CCTV system safeguards shopkeepers by Jan Harris

Police in North Lanarkshire have introduced a CCTV system designed to safeguard shopkeepers.
A CCTV camera is contained in a discrete case which is placed in shops where racist incidents have taken place.
The system is left at the business for 2 to 3 weeks, and images and sound are both recorded directly onto a hard drive, which is also in the case.
The CCTV system can gather vital evidence, which is of a good enough quality to be presented in court. It can also provide a deterrent to help prevent further attacks.
Police at North Lanarkshire Division have nine of the systems.
