A new report from Frost and Sullivan, the market intelligence company, has found that increasing adoption of IP solutions is bolstering the growth of CCTV in Europe.
Proactive systems, which can perform intelligent analysis, are also stimulating demand for network cameras and recorders.
The report shows that the European CCTV and Video Surveillance Equipment market earned revenues of US$1.42 billion in 2005. Frost & Sullivan expect this to reach US$1.94 billion in 2012.
The company’s research found the European CCTV and video surveillance equipment market to be the most active segment within the security industry, compared with other building security equipment.
IP-based video surveillance systems, which can capture, transmit and record real-time data, are becoming more and more popular, and the market undergoing a major technological transition towards network-enabled surveillance solutions.
However, reluctance on the part of resellers and end users to follow the market trend towards IP technology is slowing down the migration to network-based solutions.
