Controlware Communications Systems has helped Runnymede Borough Council in its fight against crime by providing the recording system for an IP CCTV surveillance solution.
Controlware worked in partnership with Central Security Systems (CSS) Ltd to install the system, as well as software manufacturers Meyertech.
CSS also maintains the system following installation.
A new control room monitors CCTV; deals with Careline, a security system for vulnerable people in their own homes; and also acts as an alarm-receiving centre.
Runnymede Borough Council’s CCTV network includes over 200 analogue and IP cameras at various sites, linked over broadband.
Controlware provided a Bosch digital recording system with VIPX-1600 codecs to encode video from around 160 analogue cameras so that video could be recorded digitally.
Chris Lazzari, Managing Director of CSS Ltd, said: “The new solution provides improved functionality for the council and enables them to expand their network and storage requirements easily. Best of all by using the codecs we have installed, the council saves money by retaining their investment in their existing analogue cameras”.
