BAE Systems develops face tracking CCTV
Story link: BAE Systems develops face tracking CCTV by Jan Harris

Researchers at BAE Systems have developed a CCTV system which can track a face moving through a crowd, even if the individual hides beneath a hat.
The system, which was developed as part of the Integrated Surveillance of Crowded Areas for Public Security (Iscaps) project, uses computer software to monitor and break down live television images.
Currently, police use a team of highly-trained personnel to identify and track a suspect. The new system will enable just one operator to precisely track multiple targets.
Iscaps is part of a joint, European programme to develop security systems for possible deployment around the continent. It is partly funded by the European Commission.
Law enforcement bodies are currently increasing their efforts to monitor suspected terrorists, even to the extent of using military aircraft to monitor targets and eavesdrop on their conversations.
