Joint Venture Offers Video Surveillance Development Kit

Story link: Joint Venture Offers Video Surveillance Development Kit by Jan Harris

Avnet Electronics Marketing, Analog Devices and Micron Technology, Inc. have released a new development kit that simplifies the design of video surveillance applications.

The kit uses a Blackfin® processor from Analog Devices and a CMOS image sensor from Micron Technology.

The kit will help engineers benefit from the rapidly expanding market for digital video surveillance systems, which are replacing CCTV systems. The kit helps developers to combine control and signal processing with CMOS image sensors to analyze digital video for motion detection, threat analysis, and alerting capability.

The kit utilises two Parallel Peripheral Interfaces (PPI) Units supporting ITU-R 656 video data formats and dual Blackfin cores within a single chip. The kit comes in a small form factor (two-inch by three-inch), single card versus the current, more complex, three board solution.

The kit is available at a special introductory price of US$499.00.
