CCTV Software Can Detect Criminals

Story link: CCTV Software Can Detect Criminals by Jan Harris

Zicom Electronic Security Systems, a Mumbai-based security solutions company, is developing software that can identify known criminals or terrorists in a crowd using facial recognition technology.

The software works in conjunction with closed-circuit cameras and can set off an alarm if a known suspect, or suspicious activity is detected.

A monitoring team can then review the 3D model of video from the camera, and alert the local police.

The police can also feed data about wanted criminals and terrorists into the software.

The software is currently being tested and will be launched in three month’s time.
