Transtech’s CCTV improves safety for taxi drivers

Story link: Transtech’s CCTV improves safety for taxi drivers by Jan Harris

Transtech Europe Ltd’s affordable CCTV system for taxis has significantly improved security for taxi drivers and passengers, leading to enquiries for the system from other European countries.

Transtech launched its low cost solution in January 2007, following successful trials in the East Midlands.

The company says that its system has made drivers feel more secure, reduced the number of passengers who leave without paying, and had a calming effect on passengers whilst in the vehicle.

The system has also resulted in false accusations being dropped, saving the driver’s reputation and reducing loss of wages.

According to Ian Hodges from Transtech Europe, Insurance Companies are starting to take CCTV systems into account when preparing insurance quotes for taxi firms.

Transtech Europe provides a range of systems, from a one colour camera with Day/Night vision and Audio, up to a four Colour Camera system.

The company has installed its CCTV Systems in Streamline Taxis in Hartlepool and Black Cabbies in London.
