Zicom Electronic Security Systems is supplying software for a new surveillance system being implemented in Mumbai, India. This software will have a database containing the registration numbers of vehicles used by criminals wanted by the Mumbai city police.
The database will be connected with the server of the main control room. As soon as a vehicle having a registration number wanted by the city police passes within the camera’s range, the camera will zoom in on the vehicle and compare the registration number with the numbers saved in the database. The police would be able to reach the spot within minutes and intercept the vehicle.
The software has the capacity to read all languages and numbers, and the Mumbai police authority expects to install at least 100 CCTV cameras with the software across the city. Initially, ten cameras will be installed, as a pilot project.
