COE secures Transport for London codecs contract
Story link: COE secures Transport for London codecs contract by Jan Harris

COE Limited has secured a competitive contract to supply codecs to Transport for London (TfL).
Coe has been the sole supplier of codecs for trials by TfL staff, which have proved the use of MPEG-4 compressed video for several applications within TfL.
TfL selected the COE X-Net MPEG-4 codec and contracted COE to provide codecs and support for trials including urban traffic light control, traffic police enforcement, and providing high quality video to users across the organisation.
Selection was based on several criteria, including video quality, breadth of control provided to users by the COE codec, and the company’s continuing development of the codec software.
The COE X-Net codec is the fourth generation COE development which has been installed in systems such as the underground network in Singapore, and wireless city surveillance schemes in the UK.
As COE uses an open systems approach, new applications from third party vendors can be added, such a video intelligence, to codecs already deployed.
