Visimetrics upgrades CCTV for University of Wolverhampton

Story link: Visimetrics upgrades CCTV for University of Wolverhampton by Jan Harris

Visimetrics (UK) Ltd has upgraded the University of Wolverhampton’s CCTV system with IP-based OCTAR Net NVRs. The system includes over 270 cameras and covers three campuses in Wolverhampton, Walsall and Telford.

The upgrade extends the existing OCTAR System DVR’s located on the University’s facilities, which were inadequate to cope with the University’s estate growth.

The existing OCTAR System DVR’s utilised traditional analogue cameras, but Visimetrics has now incorporated an IP-based solution to deliver the CCTV system economically across the wide geographical area involved.

The upgrade gives the University a fully integrated recording solution across all of its campuses, with cost saving, performance and efficiency benefits.

The Visimetrics CONTROL user interface provides operators with a single point of access, from which they can view and control any camera. They can also archive footage from any location.

Through the CONTROL interface, CCTV operators have direct access to the local police authorities force liaison officer. This allows the police to investigate incidents directly, by reviewing the recordings, without needing the assistance of site security operators.
