The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance (PSIA), a not-for-profit open industry group which promotes the interoperability of IP enabled security device, announced that it has ratified the IP Media Device API 1.0 Specification.
IP Media Device API 1.0 is the security industry’s first collaborative Open IP spec.
It has been released for public use and is available free of charge at www.psialliance.org.
Rob Hile, Chairman of the PSIA said: “The ratification of this 1.0 specification demonstrates how eager companies are to work together to create open standards for the physical security industry”.
The published specification can be built into products, ensuring that IP video equipment from multiple vendors can be plugged into a security system and work together.
IP Media Device API 1.0 was reviewed by all segments of the IP video market, including video management software providers, camera manufacturers, analytics software providers, network video recorder manufacturers and security solution integrators.
PSIA is expected to release a video analytics specification in the not too distant future.
