Delhi Metro stations to get CCTV cameras
Story link: Delhi Metro stations to get CCTV cameras by Lin Freestone

Delhi Metro is to have closed circuit cameras installed at all its Metro stations, in addition to those at its Line-2 underground stations. The move is aimed at making the mass transport system more secure for Delhi citizens, and also to aid post-incident investigation.
The process of fitting of the cameras has already begun. CCTV cameras will be set up in all the 46 elevated stations on the Delhi Metro system, which were not previously covered. With this, all the stations of the operational Phase-1 will be brought under electronic surveillance.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is in the process of acquiring 736 CCTV cameras for the purpose, with an average of 13 or 14 such cameras being put up at every station. The number of cameras at each station will vary, depending on its size and threat perception. The type of cameras can be fixed or dome (rotating) models.
All the CCTVs will be in place by the end of November 2007, and will be connected to a centralised control room.
