Luminite launches wireless Passive InfraRed Sensors

Story link: Luminite launches wireless Passive InfraRed Sensors by Jan Harris

Luminite Electronics has launched Genesis, a wireless PIR (passive infrared sensor) which offers advanced features at a lower cost than traditional solutions.

The Genesis wireless PIR features an improved detection range and a choice of four different lenses. It can transmit signals beyond 1 km depending on environmental conditions. With the use of repeaters it can transmit signals at up to ten kilometres.

Installations with wireless PIR detectors easily conform to BS8418 standards which requires all PIRs to be installed in view of cameras and looking inwards.

The unit is battery operated with an operational life of up to two years.

A key feature of Genesis is a new algorithm which increases the sensor’s sensitivity whilst reducing incidences of false alarms. It also includes anti-cloaking, shock sensing and anti-tamper features.

Genesis provides remote text output which enables alarm messages to be recorded onto video pictures using a DVR. These alarm messages can also be viewed by staff in a monitoring centre, alerting them if a unit requires attention.

Genesis allows 64 PIRs to be connected on a single system for maximum coverage.
