Genetec has upgraded Omnicast, its IP video surveillance security solution.
Omnicast 4.2 provides support for Windows Vista for client and server applications.
It also features ‘Hidden Site’, which gives administrators the ability to give users access to manage only a subset of entities in the system.
This is expected to be useful for larger premises, where security personnel are responsible for their own areas, and means that they will not be distracted by events outside of their remit.
‘Hidden site’ can also be used to hide cameras within the system, making them covert.
Omnicast 4.2 can support a wider range of hardware than the earlier version, including encoder and camera models from Canon, Mango DSP, Optelecom-NKF and Phoenix.
It will now also support cameras with tampering detection.
Genetec has its headquarters in Montreal, Canada, and offices around the world.
