Tayside Police equips vehicle with CCTV

Story link: Tayside Police equips vehicle with CCTV by Jan Harris

Tayside Police has installed a state-of-the-art CCTV system in a new vehicle, to help in its fight against crime.

Following advice from Crown Conversions, Tayside Police equipped the van with a Forward Vision Metal Mickey (MIC-400) camera, mounted to the van on a six and a half metre extendable mast. The camera gives the CCTV operators a clear view of the surrounding area.

In addition, four Vista fixed domes (VVRD4V9C-3A) were installed to provide perimeter protection for the van, while two 17″ Vista monitors (VLFSM17) allow operators to view the images.

A Sony 5016P DVR with expansion drive and CD/DVD writer allows information to be backed-up and hard copies to be produced using a Mitsubishi video printer.

The images can be transmitted back to the main control room and to other police vehicles.

Crown Conversions fitted out the vehicle, using rubberised washers and padding to protect the equipment from bumps.

The new vehicle will allow Tayside Police to monitor situations in different areas without the need for a permanent CCTV solution.

It will also be used as a mobile command and briefing unit at major incidents and events
