Parking wardens fitted with head-mounted cameras
Story link: Parking wardens fitted with head-mounted cameras by Jan Harris

Parking attendants in Greater Manchester are the first in the country to be equipped with head-mounted video cameras.
Under the 2006 Clean Neighbourhoods Act, which was introduced in 2006, the 20 parking attendants, who work for NCP Services, will not only be able to issue parking tickets but will also have the authority to issue on-the-spot fines for anti-social behaviour.
Salford council has asked the wardens to issue penalties up to £80 for a range of offences including littering, fly-posting and allowing dogs to foul the pavement.
The video footage will be used as evidence if the fines are challenged or if the wardens are attacked or abused.
The first wardens with the new cameras will go on patrol in Salford from the NCP HQ in Eccles next month.
