Speed Cameras May Be Monitored By CCTV
Story link: Speed Cameras May Be Monitored By CCTV by Jan Harris

The Lothian and Borders Safety Camera Partnership is discussing plans to install CCTV security cameras to monitor speed cameras at Scottish borders in an attempt to stop them being vandalized.
Over the past three years, seven cameras have been destroyed by vandals. The A68, A1 and the A697 in Berwickshire have been particular hotspots for the vandalism.
Monitoring the speed cameras with security cameras is only one of the options being considered. The plan will be evaluated on a cost basis before a decision is reached.
There may be a major problem with this plan - who is going to monitor the CCTV cameras?
