Tories would tighten CCTV controls
Story link: Tories would tighten CCTV controls by Jan Harris

In a recent speech to the Society of Conservative Lawyers, Shadow home secretary, David Davis, expressed concern that widespread use of CCTV could violate civil liberties.
Mr Davis suggested that a Conservative government would introduce new rules governing the use of CCTV.
He also wants penalties to be introduced for anyone using CCTV cameras in such a way that the privacy of the public is compromised.
Mr Davis said that the Conservatives would improve the quality of CCTV footage, ensuring that it was fit to use as evidence in court.
Britain is one of the most monitored countries in the world, leading to increasing concern that it is becoming a surveillance society. It has over 4.2 million CCTV cameras - one for every 14 people.
