Story link: IndigoVision supports IP Video open standard by Jan Harris

Edinburgh-based IP video and alarm management company, IndigoVision, has announced its support for a new network video standard being developed by Sony, Bosch and Axis.
When the standard is ratified IndigoVision’s ‘Control Centre’ Security Management Software will support cameras compliant with the standard.
The ‘Control Center’ software is used worldwide, and supports over 100,000 cameras and 10,000 operator workstations.
The proposed standard is expected to detail how network video products, including cameras, video encoders and video management systems should communicate together.
This will help manufacturers, software developers and vendors ensure that products are compatible with each other, facilitating customer satisfaction.

this article is next to useless in proving concrete details!
what is this magic spec – and how does it differ from the established ISMA standard? what benefit does it offer & what problem does it solve?
why does most of the ‘news’ on the web site consist of little more than recycled press releases!?
and why is there such a dearth of urls to external sources (not) cited by your news bulletins?
