Axis network cameras deployed at Witchford college

Story link: Axis network cameras deployed at Witchford college by Jan Harris

Ely Telecom has installed a modern IP-Surveillance solution at Witchford Village College, a secondary school near Ely.

Despite already having an analogue CCTV system in place externally, the school had a problem with the theft of IT, music and science equipment from school buildings.

Ely Telecom, in partnership with Education ICT, installed a total of 28 Axis network cameras, including AXIS 211 Network Cameras and AXIS 207 Network Cameras.

The cameras were deployed in ICT rooms, the school library, corridors and storage areas, during summer 2007.

Four Terabyte servers were also installed, providing space for 14 days storage of all network video images. The images can be monitored from two PCs using AXIS Camera Station software.

Since the system came into operation, there has been no theft or vandalism at the school. It is now considering extending the system with Axis video servers to bring the external CCTV cameras onto the IP network.
