Genetec updates AutoVu license plate recognition solution

Story link: Genetec updates AutoVu license plate recognition solution by Jan Harris

Canada-based Genetec has released AutoVu 4.3, which offers added functionality such as real-time alarming and email notification, colour, sound and priority assignment to hotlists, covert notification of matched license plates, wildcard hotlists, permit sharing and long term overtime.

The wildcard hotlist feature allows different priorities to be assigned, and each list can be allocated a different colour and alarm code, for both visual and audible alerts.

The covert feature is designed to notify the back-office operator of a number plate match, without alerting the patroller – a useful feature when covert operations are taking place.

The latest version of AutoVu also allows a wildcard hotlist database to be created, which includes records with partial license plate numbers.

This is useful to help identify vehicles when witnesses cannot remember the full license plate number.

AutoVu’s ability to help with parking enforcement has also been enhanced with the ability to detect and notify the parking officer when two vehicles, with the same permit, have parked on a street within a set time-frame.

The long term overtime feature assists with the identification of vehicles that have been parked at the same location for a period of one to five days, and therefore might have been abandoned.

Genetec is headquartered in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada, and has its European Main Office in Paris, France.
