Axis IP-Surveillance installed at Rose Bowl
Story link: Axis IP-Surveillance installed at Rose Bowl by Brian Turner

AXIS 214 PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) Network Cameras from Axis communications have been installed by iCode at the Rose Bowl, as part of an upgrade to the stadium’s surveillance operations.
The upgrade also included networking 16 existing CCTV cameras to 4 AXIS 241Q (Quad) Video Servers. These would then be able to convert analogue into digital signals for recording and management, by iCode’s own i-Catcher Console 3 software which runs the stadium’s data network infrastructure.
The cameras are to be primarily used for policing purposes, such as for sports and music events. Key aims involve predicting and spotting potential crowd crushing, as well as identify any troublemakers.
The new surveillance network includes motion detection, alerting, together with provision of a remote web interface, simultaneous recording and playback and flexible display options. Some of the more advanced features that it offers include loiter detection and people counting.
Another advantage of transferring the surveillance system onto the network was that Rose Bowl’s management are now able to view the stadium remotely via the internet and even from their Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) whilst outside the ground.
