Scottish Water is protecting its Aberdeen site from fly-tippers with solar-powered CCTV from Puurgen.

The system includes a vandal-proof dome camera powered by a 180Watt-peak solar power system.

Innovative maximum power point tracker technology from Puurgen boosts solar capture by up to 40%.

Images from the camera are transmitted wirelessly via a 2.4GHz link to a nearby secure digital video recorder.

As well as being carbon-friendly, the system eliminates the need to bury cable underground, with obvious cost savings.

Puurgen is a relative newcomer to the CCTV sector, having been formed in February 2008.

Its sister company, Clyde Space, uses the same maximum power point tracker technology as that employed in Puurgen’s solar powered CCTV, to power small satellites in space.
