TDC, a technical component distributor, is launching the smallest-ever single-chip CMOS camera to the UK market.
The camera, which features the OV6920 CameraChip, the world’s first 1.4mm sensor, is designed for security, surveillance and medical applications. It is also suitable for video-enabled phones, webcams, toys and games.
The OV6920 CameraChip allows the production of camera modules measuring just 3.2mm in diameter. This allows the development of significantly smaller medical devices such as endoscopes and colonoscopies, making medical procedures much less invasive.
It also enables the development of highly-discreet, miniature cameras for defence, security and surveillance applications while maintaining image quality and clarity.
The CameraChip also provides cost benefits and lower power consumption of just 30mA under a 75 Ohm load, and only 20mA without loading, helping to ensure long lifetime in battery-powered applications.
The OV6920 has a total array size of 328 x 250 and features SCCB-configurable automatic control of colour saturation, exposure, gain and gamma curve. It also features an aperture correction function.
It requires only a clock and a 3.3V DC power supply to obtain an NTSC (320 x 240) composite signal output with a direct interface to VCRs and monitors.
