Hi guys,
I'm wondering is it practical nowadays to use cat5e cable to wire CCTV cameras instead of using coaxial cable? As for a speed dome camera, what is the maximum distance to wiring if using cat5e cable?By using video passive transmitter,i guess there's no problem with it.As for the speed dome controller,i just want to know how far i can wire up to because its a communication between the speed dome can the controller itself. Any guys here got experience in doing this? Thanks |

I will be setting up a speed dome camera, with video balun and an active transmitter and receiver at both end to boost up the signal up to 1400meters.I have seen the specifications of the video transmitter and receiver ,and it stated that the maximum distance can run up to 2400meters.
So i hope anyone got any experience in doing this. Thanks |

Next question would be how far do you need it to go? 2400 meters is a hell of a long way. Most applications would be far less than 100 meters.
