You are probably running a 2.4GHz system, and are picking up interference from residential devices like wireless networks, telephones, etc. Even though they arent necessarily in the same room or even in the same house, your next door neighbor's wifi or other devices could easily be interfering with your cameras.

Thank you for your reply. Would you consider getting a USB cctv DVR so I can view and record as I have 3 cameras. Would the interference be better?

Anything you do that is wireless will be prone to interference, and even some wired applications if not properly shielded. Your best bet to minimize interference is a hard-wired system, using shielded coax signal line.

As far as the USB DVR, I suppose it really just depends on the particulars of the DVR/capture you are looking at, and the system specs for the computer you want to hook it into.

Keep in mind, that whenever you are talking about security, you are talking about something that may need to run 24/7, and your personal computer may not be up to the task. In your case, I'd suggest getting a small embedded (also known as stand alone) DVR.

My company carries a small 4-channel DVR unit for $385 USD, which is a quick, stable, easy to use unit, and is a good alternative to a PC for dedicated use.

If you like, I can private msg you a link to the product, if you'd like to have a look. Just let me know.

This is a recurring problem that seems to pop up. I had the same problems. Not only could you be picking up interference from the neighbours but you could be knocking out or causing severe disruptions to any nearby wifi network as well. My cameras on the ground floor completely disrupted my internet connection upstairs. And they picked up interference to the point that motion detection was pointless since they recorded non-stop due to interference lines.

Hard wiring is best.
