Default Alarm with remote notification?

I've just had ADT in and apparently unless I can find two 'keyholders' locally (I can't) then they can't get a police response if my alarm goes off. Which seems kind of pointless.

So now I'm wondering if there is another way. Is it possible to have a home security system with internal sensors that can alert me (by phone for example) if the alarms activate and also to have internal security cameras which I could access remotely.

ie. I'm away from home, a burglar breaks in, the system alerts me by phone, I look on the internet and see some bugger in my house on the internal cameras, I call 999...

Yes you can, You can install an alarm system with an auto dialer even gsm if you wish, then covert internal camera's networked through a dvr, the camera's dont start recording untill the alarm system is activated saving on hard drive space, depending on what mobile phone you have you can view your camera's without the need for a laptop! We have installed a few of these systems if i can help any more visit the site and send an email or pm me on here.

No the problem is ADT been fined a few Million £ last year for wasting police time as ADT was fitting the incorrect Sensors into the house and they house had animals.

May I recommend as a ex ADT fitter to make it clear that you like to be part the ADT watch team as this is where if you go on Hoilday you contact ADT and they sent an ADT warden to check your house, I think it cost £10 per week but unsure if they still do it

Hi JXM, a remote notifying/dialling alarm still gives you great peace of mind -even if it calls one keyholder and not the police. Getting a call when you are away on holiday might seem a good idea, but, what if you are somewhere nice with mobile reception but no 3G.

Most CCTV digital recorders like alienDVR will still need a high speed mobile connection for you to watch remotely.

I am all for high-tech solutions, but best get a friend/colleague/neighbour to respond if you can't. If they are worried when they get there, they can call 999 and get help. If the high-tech stuff works and you see what caused the alarm, you can call your keyholder with the good news.
