Hi all
I am a complete newbie to CCTV and would be very grateful for some advice I currently have two CCTV cameras on my house (front and back). I bought these from Aldi last year, the make is Homenet, model No 70 –97PT, these cameras were hooked up to a TV/video with a Scart lead, they have a 12V power supply in the lead that goes to the camera. I bought my son a laptop for Xmas and now have a spare computer. I was trying to set up a digital CCTV System but am having a bit of a problem. I have purchase a DVR card and installed it in the computer c/w Pico 2000 software. I thought I would be able to connect the Homenet CCTV Cameras to the DVR card, so I connected the CCTV camera to the DVR card (this was done joining the camera Scart to a Scart female coupling adapter, then from the Scart female coupling adapter to the DVR card with a yellow Phono lead. I cannot get the DVR card (or Pico 2000) to work with this set-up, is it possible to use these cameras on a computer via a DVR card am I just wasting my time Thanks in Advance ![]() ![]() |

It sounds to me like your trying to use analogue camera's on a digital set up, it wont work unfortunatly..... Just invest in some digital camera's and you will notice a massive difference!!

How I understand from writing: DVR card have composite video inputs and Cameras got composite video outputs; that means system must work. Why not working?
Potential problems: DVR card is not proper installed (e.g. drivers) Wrong Scart to RCA adapter

I think your Scart to Phono connector may be the wrong type. It'll be either a Scart to phono video input cable or a Scart to phono video output cable, meaning the phono central pin is connected either to Scart pin 20 or to 19. Check it with an Ohm meter or take it apart and have a look. If you're confident at soldering it should be quite easy to change.

If I remember rightly PICO 2000 is a mass copied piece of software - usually available on ebay etc. A few years back this software was rife with problems and glitches - I'd stay away from it and use a dedicated CCTV DVR rather than a home PC. Just my opinion though.
