Default Grandad

I'm a Taxi Driver in the South East, 17 years ago took early release from BT after 23 years as Tech Officer in transmission engineering...I'm an old git! Married 32 years 3 children, 2 Grandchildren.

After buying the Maplins Home CCTV in the sale some months ago I have just taken advantage of the Mobile DVR prices. Nikkai 4 channel with audio for £90. BUT...it does seem to have a sensitive power supply, I am on my 3rd now since end of Jan and keeping fingers crossed.

Its a shame todays society demands these measures towards personal safety

It seems to me that these DVR'S that maplin are selling are not "fit for purpose" and would be getting a refund and a better, more stable model.

Got you right there Ian...trouble is there is no 12 volt mobile alternative I am aware of that can be bought for £89...will provide DVR facilities for 4 cameras, with motion detect, timer and quad, with support for up to 200G Hard Drive giving 8.75 day cycle continuous overwrite...but most important for me, an Audio input too. Unless anyone knows different?

A lot of the Dvr's are 12v, they just use a power supply to convert them down, what you may have a problem with is the amps, however if you follow this link you may find an idea so that you can use any dvr you want, and by the way you can get a good quality dvr with remote, 160gb harddrive, a good compression rate, all for around £160.00.

Regarding 12V: if need we doing modification inside DVR to work from any requested voltage. Second: e.g. all ours DVR working from 12V (power supplies 230V to 12V is external)

Got my cash £119 back for faulty DVR, then bought same unit in sale for £89...no problems since in private car. But you are right, I found the "customer service" to be anything but...it took a recorded playback of their promise to get a result.
