Wink CCTV Advice

Hi I am looking for a mid range 4 camera dvr cctv system to cover the outside of the house (semi detached bungalow) 1 camera would need to have a range of around 30 metres this could possibly be mounted on the chimmney.I would like it to be able to view remotely One concern is the mounting height of the other cameras
There is an DSC LCD 5501Z wireless alarm already installed in the house so Im not sure if this could be tied into a cctv system maybe with a pir?
I am an electrician to trade so hopefully it wouldnt be too difficult to install
Thanks

The problem your talking about is hight im guessing......... You dont want the camera's to high or the only images you will get will be the top of peoples heads, so i would go for some anti-vandal dome camera's with a vari focal lens so that you can target specific area's or an open area all with one camera, im not sure how you would want the alarm inigrated with the cctv? it can be done so that if the alarm goes of the cctv starts recording but im guessing the camera's would pick up the person or persons before they reached the house and triggered the alarm.

Regards Iain

Hi Iain thanks for the reply I had thought 3 cameras to cover the sides of the house and the long range to cover a hut at the bottom of the garden and yes the height could possible be a problem so anti vandal domes would be ideal
Re alarm possibly a better idea for the cctv to trigger a buzzer inside the house??
I was trying to keep everything as simple as possible and limit cable runs

Yes if you buy a quality dvr you will be able to set one of the triggers (when the camera's detect movement" to set of a buzzer, or link it into your alarm as a chime zone, the type you here when you walk into a shop! For the camera looking at the hut it will depend on distance to the typ of lens you will require, what might be an idea for this one is again a vari focal lens 8-22m but at a guess im sure you would be ok with a 12m lens. when we set cameras up we often use a mini installation monitor that straps to the installers arm so we can find the best posistion for the camera. If you give me an idea of your budget for the project i may be able to point you in the direction of equipment.

Regards Iain

Hi,
I better recommend: try to install cameras higher- antivandal cameras ok, but a lot other tricks can be done (e.g. sprinkle). Better use one big camera can be antivandal (to scare potential criminal) and cover far area; and use hidden camera to cover near (e.g. door entrance).

I second Neo's advice. One of our clients had a break-in recently where the person seeing the bigger cameras used a hood to hide his face but was clearly visible on the hidden camera and was quickly caught.
